Chlorofoils

this project came to be via a colleague who races in the Europe dinghy class of dinghies. they wanted to create a more sustainable way of producing foils and components for the class and boat in general. So we embarked on researching new materials and resins that would give us the properties that we wanted. After looking at many different options from glass to flax and even enegra ,we finally settled on cellulose fibre. that was just the laminate we had a whole other set of discussions about how we get a high quality core material for low carbon foot print along with keeping costs down and making sure its sustainable in the long run. This brought is to an old staple of bolsa wood with careful consideration for where it was sourced from .

With this project i partnerted with Sustainable Sailing who have a passion for making the marine industry as a whole more sustainable. With there help the new chloro foils are fully measured and class legal through the RYA and are now being used competitively in the UK class
